The Ride of the Fancy Women is about inclusive spaces. We use whimsy and glamor to advocate for safe and women-welcoming infrastructure, so that everyone may safely use a bicycle for transportation. Bicycles have long been women's freedom machines: from the days of the suffragettes, to now. The Ride of the Fancy Women is about having the space to be included in our city on our terms. Join fellow cyclists for a casual ride and birdwatching outing to the Pylypow Constructed Wetland. Meet at the Davies LRT Station at 6:30 AM on Saturday, 6 June 2026. We will ride together south on 75 St, then east on Roper Road to the entry of the wetlands on 42 St. **About the Location:** The Pylypow Constructed Wetland is nestled in an industrial area, with a mix of gravel and paved trails. Benches are available for resting and observing wildlife. There are no washrooms on site, but we will be passing a Tim Hortons.  **What to Bring:** - Camera - Binoculars - Sunglasses - Sunscreen - Bird guidebook - Snacks/water **What to Wear:** Dress in layers — it can be chilly in the morning but warms up quickly. **How it Works:** Once we arrive, feel free to explore on your own or stay with the group. You can keep your bike with you the entire time, walking or riding it as you prefer. Birders of all experience levels are welcome! Feel free to share birding knowledge with fellow riders or learn from them as well. **Good to Know:** - Please respect other birders and the quiet environment - Stay well away from juvenile birds or nest sites - Do not use playback - Leave whenever you like - Optional group breakfast afterward Launch Party ##### Official Launch of Bikeology Guild of Canada! This includes the nêhiyawak, Niitsítapi, Nakota Sioux, Dene, Ojibway/Saulteaux/Anishinaabe, Iroquois, Métis, Inuit, and many other nations whose footsteps and paddlestrokes have charted these lands for countless generations. We recognize that we are treaty people, guests on this territory, and express our gratitude for the opportunity to live, work, learn, and ride on these ancestral lands. As treaty people, we commit to building respectful relationships based on mutual understanding, and we pledge to engage in advocacy work that is truly inclusive, centers treaty responsibilities for cooperation, and honors the sacred responsibility to protect and preserve the land, waters, and environment for current and future generations. We understand that reconciliation is an ongoing journey that requires sustained action, learning, and accountability. We commit to doing our part in supporting Indigenous rights, addressing systemic inequities, and working toward a future built on justice, respect, and shared stewardship of this beautiful territory we are privileged to call home.
